Chalo, the Dhaka-based ride-hailing startup, has introduced four new services namely- Air Ticket, Packet, Microbus and Short Message Service (SMS), said a press release sent to Future Startup.
Microbus, a new feature, will fulfill the demand for a larger vehicle for an occasional tour of all family members in addition to its currently available private car service.
Chalo Packet, a logistics service, will deliver documents and any other legal packets in 2 hours within the Dhaka City.
The startup also added offline booking feature via SMS in its app when the subscriber is out of internet connectivity.
Founded by Dewan Shuvo, Chalo launched in May 2015 in Dhaka. The startup raised a seed round from Desh Ventures Inc-a Silicon Valley-based venture firm, and recently raised another round from undisclosed Japanese investors.
The number of ‘car and transportation services’ is on the rise in Dhaka. There already are a number of players in the market like Toma, BDcabs, Sam, Oikhali, Pathao, Orggro, Amarbike and recently relaunched Taxiwala. Uber, the unicorn ride-hailing startup, is also planning to launch in Bangladesh soon which means the market is becoming increasingly competitive. However, as we wrote before, transportation is still an unsolved problem in Dhaka and anyone who solves it effective and efficiently will be the winner.
