Bangladesh is set to become one of the largest consumer markets in the world by 2030, according to data by research company World Data Lab, published by Brookings Institution.

  1. Bangladesh’s consumer class is projected to more than double by 2030.
  2. In 2020, Bangladesh was ranked 28th in the global consumer market. The country will jump 17 positions, from place 28 to 11 in 2030.
  3. The country's global share of consumer class will rise from 0.8 percent in 2020 to1.6 percent in 2030.
  4. Today, 35 million people in Bangladesh spend more than $11 a day. By 2030, it will be 85 million consumers.

The development will bear all kind of fascinating implications for the country.


The lonely generation

The world has increasingly grown lonely, creating all sorts of social and individuals implications on the way.

While the chart shows US data, the scenario is not far from the reality in Bangladesh. This has various implications, most of them are negative. For instance, studies suggest that lonely people consume more entertainment, spend more time online, suffer from frequent health issues, spend more in consumption and so on.
