Bioscope To Live Broadcast ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Grameenphone’s video streaming service Bioscope has entered an agreement with Rabbithole Entertainment, the Exclusive Digital Broadcast Right owners for CWC2019 in Bangladesh, to live broadcast the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 online. Under the agreement, Bioscope users would be able to enjoy ad-free LIVE matches with commentary in Bangla during the World Cup. An agreement handover ceremony was held at GPHouse, on May 21, 2019. Solaiman Alam, Head of Digital Services, Grameenphone Aman Ashraf Faiz, MD, GTV and Rabbithole’s CEO, Rafiqullah Romel were present along with other attendees at the signing ceremony.

Bioscope is Grameenphone’s online video streaming service. Bioscope offers drama, movies, music, sports, popular live TV channels with other features via web and app. Grameenphone claims that about 3 million people use the platform every month for their entertainment needs.

Bioscope was launched in 2016 as a free video streaming service. It has evolved since. It has launched a paid subscription service in November last year called Bioscope Prime for Grameenphone users that can be bought in the form of buying Grameenphone’s internet package. Paid users get access to exclusive contents, TV channels such as Zee and Colors Network, entertaining music and different sports channels and more along with original contents produced under Bioscope Originals. The new move to broadcast Cricket World Cup 2019 should give the platform a new boost in user growth.
