Under the deal, Adzuna will take over operation of Work In Startups, which will retain its independent brand and community of tens of thousands of monthly startup job seekers and hundreds of startups.
Doug Monro, a co-founder of Adzuna, said: “We are thrilled at the opportunity to take Work In Startups to the next level, having watched it become an integral piece of the UK startup hiring scene over the past few years. It has been a fantastic resource for our key early hires, and with our experience from Adzuna and Gumtree before, we’re excited about what we can achieve here. We see the platform as a rough diamond that brings a strong community and bags of additional potential to grow and improve the experience for both advertisers and job seekers.”
The UK continues to be the top European hub for tech investment and innovation, yet the race for talent continues to present a significant challenge for startups in particular. According to Adzuna, there are currently 1.1m open roles in the UK, 90,000 (more than 12%) of which are in tech.
“Bringing Work In Startups under our wing is another step in our mission to help people find better, more fulfilling jobs - particularly within the tech community which is close to our hearts. We look forward to working with the community to continue to make hiring top talent for UK startups faster, easier and better,” added Adzuna’s Monro.
Diana Ilinca, a co-founder of Work In Startups, said: “Adzuna is a global leader in the online job space, and I am firmly of the belief that Work In Startups will benefit from their marketing and technology expertise which will help accelerate the growth of the platform. In 2011, we set out on a mission to help match startups and talent together and transform the hiring space for the industry. We’ve since helped nurture a fantastic community, have been a part of thousands of successful hires and partnerships, and have made significant progress in becoming the platform of choice for both sides of the marketplace. Adzuna shares our ambition and goals for empowering the community.”
