The Asian Unicorn List: 24 Asian Startups That Are Valued Over $1 Billion

Billion dollar valuation of private companies is no more a new thing. Not even unusual news. According to CB Insight we have 110 startups that are valued $1 Billion and beyond and counting. Given their size and everything these companies are called unicorns.

In Asia, number of unicorns is in the rise as well. We have been seeing companies getting $ 1 billion and greater valuation on a regular interval. This is our attempt to make a separate list of Asian Unicorns-Asian startups that are valued over $1 billion. We used CB Insight as a primary source for the list.

1. Xiami: Founded by Lei Jun in 2010, Xiaomi is the world’s third largest smartphone distributor. Headquartered in Beijing, China, Xiaomi calls itself the Apple of China.
Valution: $46 Billion

2. Flipkart: Flipkart is the India’s largest online shopping destination. The startup offers some of the best prices and introduces some of best services like Cash on Delivery, Debit Card, Credit Card and Net Banking processed through secure and trusted gateways for frictionless experience. Recently Flipkart signed a delivery deal with Dabbawalas to make on time and reliable delivery.

3. Lufax: Shanghai Lujiazui International Financial Asset Exchange known as Lufax is an online marketplace for the origination and trading of financial assets. Started back in 2011 the company has grown into the china’s largest internet finance company in less than four years.

4. DJI Innovations: DJI (SZ DJI Technology Co.) is world leader in making camera drones. The company develops and manufactures aerial robotics technology for commercial and recreational use.

5. Kuaidi Dache: Uber of china, Kuaidi Dache is one of the largest global car service app and on demand car service provider. The company provides Commercial Rental, Tourist Rental, Transport aircraft service with a driver.

6. Meituan: Founded in 2010 by Xing Wang Meituan.com is a group buying website for locally found consumer products and retail services.

11. One97 Communications: One97 Communications Ltd. is India’s leading mobile internet
company. Paytm, One97's flagship brand, is India's largest digital goods and mobile commerce platform - inspired and driven by a commitment to great consumer experience. Paytm is also a leading payment solutions provider to ecommerce merchants using its RBI approved semi-closed wallet.

14. Koudai Gouwu: Koudai is a growth stage, lead-generation platform focused on mobile e-commerce. Leveraging its search technology, Koudai plans to become a leading shopping traffic gateway on the mobile Internet. Its business model centers on matching shopping interest with merchants and charging lead generation or possibly transaction commissions.

GrabTaxi is a Singapore based taxi booking app. GrabTaxi's 'Share your Ride' function, which allows users to share their journey through social media or messaging apps with friends and family, has provided extra security for passengers that has never been available before. GrabTaxi also allows users to rate their drivers and view their information, giving users peace-of-mind when booking taxis.
