According to a press release, Grameenphone Limited announced the Durbin by Durbin Labs as the winner of Telenor’s ‘Digital Winner’ Bangladesh apps competition at a gala ceremony held at a local hotel today. As an outcome Durbin will represent Bangladesh at Digital Winners Conference at Oslo, Norway to be held on 21-23 October 2015 and compete for Asia’s Best App Award.
Digital Winners
Digital Winners is the Nordic region’s premier gathering of leaders and innovators in media, technology and communications. Theme of this year’s conference is Education. The idea Durbin presents is simple: it aims to make learning fun and deliver it at lower cost. Students from class five to graduation level will be able to find solution here of different learning issues. It also make student interested to studies by making concepts easy and interesting.
The Process
A panel of judges selected four Apps from short listed entries for the final contest. The finalist apps were Alokbortika by Technolive, Bangla Bornomala by Team Binary, Boipoka by Mobioapp and Durbin by Durbin Labs.
The four final apps presented in the contest were related to education and based on either the Android or Windows platform. Local Digital Winners contest was jointly arranged by Grameenphone and Telenor Digital.
“Grameenphone wants to encourage developers to field more apps and content for the benefit of local population. With Digital Winners we are offering them a chance to present their talent in a global platform,” said Sayed Talat Kamal, Head of External Communications, Grameenphone. The competition is part of Telenor Group and Grameenphone’s ambition to provide “Internet for All.” Under this initiative Grameenphone aims to provide quality internet connection and make education, health, entertainment and financial services available to general people through the internet.
