Things are becoming more interesting for startups in this part of the world, US-based accelerator and investment fund 500 Startups just announced the launch of a US$25 million fund for India, Srilanka, and Bangladesh.
In a statement, published yesterday, Pankaj Jain, a Partner at 500 Startups [he will be looking after this new fund as well] wrote: "We’re excited to announce our latest regional fund focused on India including Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. 500 Kulfi will be a $25M fund focusing on early stage companies with product-market fit and demonstrated traction. Although we’re sector-agnostic, we will take a closer look at FinTech, EdTech, Health & Wellness, Data Analytics, Content and SaaS/SMB."
This new announcement came in a time when tech giants like Uber and Alibaba expressed interest in Bangladesh market and the space is seeing more and more serious players.
