Bangladesh eCommerce To Have New Policy, eCab To Prepare Draft

A recent report by the Daily Star said, Government is working on a separate policy guideline for eCommerce sector with a view to help flourish the sector and to strengthen control over the fraudulent occurrences.

eCommerce has proliferated in Bangladesh over the fast few years. Although market for eCommerce is largely concentrated in Dhaka, some reports claim that the sector now worth more than BDT 400 crore a year.

No doubt, eCommerce is a fast growing sector and in the coming years, more and more people will be opting in for ecommerce. A policy guideline should help the sector prosper.

The Report also said, Government has directed the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh [e-CAB] to prepare a draft. Once ready the draft will be shared and discussed with the all stakeholders before turning it into a final policy guideline.
