Income Tax Fair-2015 Begins Today

A week long Income Tax Fair-2015 begins today across the country. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is going to organize the fair from September 16 to 22 in an attempt to create awareness and encourage more people to pay income tax. NBR Chairman Nojibur Rahman made the announcement at a press conference held on September 14 at NBR headquarters.

To encourage mass people in paying income tax NBR is going to organize Income Tax Fair in divisional headquarters and district headquarters for seven days and four days respectively. Top of that, total of 86 upazilas has brought under the fair for the first time this year. The mobile income tax fair will be held in the upazilas and the duration of the fair will be two days for 29 upazilas each while one day is kept for the rest 57 upazilas.

As program begins, NBR will acknowledge 20 highest top individual taxpayers and companies with the prestigious tax cards for paying the highest income tax at the national level in the fiscal year 2014- ’15. A total of ten individual taxpayers and 10 corporate taxpayers will be awarded for their contribution to the national exchequer. The card-holders will have the privilege to attend the state programs and get priorities in transport and medical services.

During the fair, NBR will provide services like online facility for submitting income tax return and registering for e-TIN certificate etc.

The NBR has been organizing the national tax fair since 2008 to develop a tax paying culture among the people. According to NBR data, the result is evident. The number of service recipients from fair increased to 6, 49,185 in the last year from 60,512 in previous year.
