GP Names New Board Chairman

Grameenphone, the largest telecom operators in the country, has announced new chair for its board recently. Christopher Laska was appointed the new Chairman of the GP Board by the directors on the conclusion of the 170th Board Meeting on Wednesday, 28 September 2016, a press release said.

Mr. Laska was appointed a director of the Board to replace Mr. Sigve Brekke, who had taken up the role of Telenor Group CEO last year August.

Mr. Laska is currently serving as Senior Vice President, Board Governance and Partnership Relations, Asia, based out of the Singapore office. He has been with Telenor since 2000 and has served in various capacities across multiple Telenor business units in Europe and Asia.

Prior to his joining the Telenor Asia office in August 2016, he had served as the Chief Executive Officer at Telenor Hungary since 2011.

Chistopher Laska, a Norwegian by birth, earned his Bachelor of Science with honours in Business Management from Bradford University Management Centre in the UK, and holds a post-graduate degree from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in London.
