Atiur Rahman Resigns, Fazle Kabir To Become New BB governor

Things are changing rapidly with Bangladesh Bank. Dr. Atiur resigned from his position this morning, as part of the fallout from the stealing of US$101m from Bangladesh Bank's account.

In a rather quick move, former secretary of Finance Division Fazle Kabir will be made new governor of Bangladesh Bank, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said today after news broke of Atiur's resignation.

Kabir, now in Washington, will join his new post on March 18, Muhith told reporters at the Secretariat in Dhaka.
