Jolkona Catalyst Invites Application From Bangladeshi Social Entrepreneurs For Fall'15

Jolkona Catalyst–a short-term accelerator for international social ventures initiated by Jolkona-is inviting application from young social entrepreneurs from Bangladesh for their Fall 2015 accelerator. Jolkona, founded by two Bangladeshi entrepreneurs, Nadia Mahmud and Adnan Mahmud, is a nonprofit that educates, empowers and engages a new generation of philanthropists and social entrepreneurs. By social Enterprise, Jolkona means a unique solution to a social problem in Bangladesh which is effective, efficient, and sustainable. The venture should be providing a product or service that adds social value to entrepreneurs’ community and can be scaled throughout the country.

Jolkona Catalyst is looking for entrepreneurs who have started a social enterprise in Bangladesh, and are in need of help in scaling up their venture. Under Jolkona Catalyst, selected participants will be brought to Seattle, a city with a vibrant start-up ecosystem, for a short-term intensive accelerator where the participants will get exposure to resources and networks that will help them scale their ventures and will get access to Seattle's best startup talent who prepare these founders to scale and engage with investors at home and abroad.

Entrepreneurs who are actively maintaining their social enterprises aged between 22 to 35 and are from Bangladesh and living here are eligible to apply. Application is live now and will be closing on July 27, 2015. Selected applicants have to attend accelerator program in Seattle during October 19, 2015 – November 6, 2015.

Jolkona, in partnership with US govt. and US embassy, cover the full cost of attending the program.

Mohammad Ruhul Kader is a Dhaka-based entrepreneur and writer. He founded Future Startup, a digital publication covering the startup and technology scene in Dhaka with an ambition to transform Bangladesh through entrepreneurship and innovation. He writes about internet business, strategy, technology, and society. He is the author of Rethinking Failure. His writings have been published in almost all major national dailies in Bangladesh including DT, FE, etc. Prior to FS, he worked for a local conglomerate where he helped start a social enterprise.
