Alibaba Plans To Enter Bangladesh Market, Launches Bangla Version Of UC Browser

Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant, is planning to enter Bangladesh market, said an official of the company during the launch program of UC Browser's Bangla Version yesterday. UC Browser is product of an Alibaba company called UCweb Inc. that provides mobile internet software technology and services.

Siyuan Pi, managing director of business development for emerging markets at UCWeb said during yesterday's event that the company is interested in Bangladesh market and collecting market data to make a decision. "We are collecting information about the Bangladeshi market and will shortly take a decision," said Pi, "we are also offering online commerce for Bangladeshi people through the aliexpress.com site where people can buy products from China as well as from other countries".

Alibaba transacted $390 billion in 2015 only. The company plans to achieve $1 trillion in sales in the next five years.

Bangladesh eCommerec sector has been growing fast in recent years. According to some reports, the sector is now worth more than BDT 400 crores a year and growing.
