Banglalink IT Incubator Introduces 2nd Cohort Startups

Banglalink IT Incubator, a joint initiative of Banglalink and Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority (BHTPA), has introduced its second cohort of startups yesterday at the Grand Gala of Banglalink IT Incubator 2.0, held in an exuberant atmosphere at city’s Le Méridien hotel.

Present at the event were Erik Aas, CEO, Banglalink, Hosne Ara Begum, Managing Director, Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority and other high officials of the two organizations. Investors, startup enthusiasts and stakeholders of the ecosystem also attended the event.

Assessing the uniqueness and commercial prospects of the digital ideas, the top six digital startups were selected from more than 200 participants, who will be given infrastructural, logistic and mentoring facilities for one year at IT Incubator located in Janata Tower, Kawran Bazar.

The selected startups are:

Genie IOT

The world is rapidly moving towards building automation. However, middle-income countries are falling behind due to the vast costs required as a pre-requisite for automation - purchasing "smart appliances" and performing major building renovations.

Genie IOT solves this problem by developing affordable technologies which can be easily installed in buildings. These devices transform "traditional appliances" to "smart appliances", and inter-connects them through a Bengali Speaking AI: Asha.

Chobir Baksho

Chobir Baksho is the first ever photography marketplace in Bangladesh. Its allow the photographer to sell their stock images on this platform. At the same time, it helps brands and agencies to get the perfect photos to fit into the brand story they are trying to communicate. Keeping the availability of both demand and supply in mind, we can see there is the huge market potentiality of stock image company in Bangladesh.

Homefoodz.co

HomeFoodz.co is a hyper-local mobile app for connecting homemade food producers & consumers so that consumers can avail healthy food with reasonable price. Time and skill of homemade food producers can be used properly for getting self-employment.

Parkly

Parkly is a platform that matches drivers with parking spaces through its mobile application. Parking is one of the most difficult and dysfunctional parts of our cites. We are working on a product which will help parking function seamless by using all the underutilized spaces in our cities. Our mission is to make parking easy and contribute to solving our traffic and parking issues.

Teach it

'Teach It!' is an online marketplace for teaching-enthusiasts with the aim of democratizing education. It enables the creation of educational content through an open-source platform and provides access to content to subscribers (monthly subscriptions) especially in the Bangla language to build a community of teachers and learners willing to go beyond the conventional methods and curricula of teaching. Anyone can teach anything, anywhere, anytime. A social network for teachers receiving a royalty.

Easy Sense

Easy Sense is an Industrial IoT startup based in Dhaka. Founded with a vision of making the industrial working place safe and smarter.

Banglalink IT Incubator is a part of ‘Make Your Mark’, the flagship Corporate Responsibility program of Banglalink’s parent company VEON. The renowned global telecom operator is committed to facilitating the development of the IT sectors of all the societies around the world it operates in.

Launched in July 2016, the incubator has so far supported 10 startups.
