Post Google Launchpad Accelerator, Maya Raises Another Round of Investment

Maya, the Dhaka-based anonymous messaging platform that calls itself an intelligent digital wellbeing assistant that connects users with real doctors and therapists, has raised an undisclosed amount of investment at a valuation close to $3m, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Previously, Maya raised an investment of BDT 4 crore from BRAC, the number one NGO in the world, at an undisclosed valuation. It recently graduated from Google’s Launchpad Accelerator Program as the first Bangladeshi startup.

Founded by Ivy Huq Russell in 2009, Maya has come a long way over the past years. It claims that it has served almost 700 thousand consultations through its messaging platform since 2017, has over 150 on demand experts on its platform and continues to experience a consistent growth. Apart from its on-demand experts, Maya is a team of 14 full-time people and is currently hiring for multiple positions.

Maya has been considering expansion for a while now. With the new investment, the startup is likely to expand to a few new markets. It already has a collaboration with Dialog, one of the leading telecom operators in Sri Lanka, that licensed Maya’s back-end technology. The company now eyes to make its service available to anyone from anywhere.
