Bangladesh government has initiated a Tk 347.0274 billion broad gauge railway project move to connect Dhaka to the southwest via the Padma Multipurpose Bridge, The Financial Express reports.
Tk 9953.69 crore, Of the project cost, will come from the national exchequer and the rest from the Chinese government on the government-to-government basis. Bangladesh Railway will implement the project by June 2022. The project draft, Padma Bridge Rail Link, is now with the Planning Commission, said a senior railway official.
Total length of the railway track will be 215.22 kilometers, including loops and sidings with 169 kilometers of broad gauge one. The track will go through seven districts in Dhaka division and two in Khulna division.
