In Bangladesh, we have plenty of tour operators but very few of these companies are offering a solution that takes advantage of technology.

Tourism is a multi-million dollar industry in Bangladesh and it is growing rapidly every year. It has been found that, domestic tourism has increased significantly in recent years whereas increasing number of Bangladeshis are getting interested in travelling.

With the tourism trend going up, a new breed of companies, enabled with technology, entering the market to grab this growing market.

Here are three travel-tech startups launched this year we have found interesting.

Tripping, a new travel-tech startup launched recently, helps people to compare best tour packages from a number of tour operators in Bangladesh and choose one that best suits them and also customize and get quote for trip plan. Tripping works with local travel agencies and tour operators to offer tour and activity packages.

Rocket Internet-backed online hotel booking site, Jovago has launched its operation in Bangladesh recently. Started back in 2013, Jovago has become the No.1 Hotel Booking Website in Africa, active in over 40 countries. With over 200,000 destinations online, they provide customers with full and reliable information about the destinations on offer.

Jovago CEO, Paul Midi expressed that “We wanted to expand further into Asia and looked at several different countries before deciding on Bangladesh. International players are yet to expand their footprint in Bangladesh.”

Rocket Internet has been putting lots of energy in expanding across Asian market in recent years and declared that it plans to launch one startup in markets like Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Myanmar every quarter.

Rocket Internet has six more startups operating in Bangladesh. It just launched an online job marketplace, Everjobs, few months ago.
