Bangladesh Economists' Forum Meet Begins Tomorrow

The second conference of the Bangladesh Economists’ Forum (BEF) will take place tomorrow, Saturday,Oct 24, 2015, at the Bangladesh Bank Training Academy, Mirpur in the capital. Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will inaugurate the conference. This 2nd of its kind conference will discuss development issues and challenges facing by Bangladesh in two major sessions.

This year, a collection of essays of leading economists under the title "Bangladesh Vision 2030: Framework for Economic Policy Making and Strategy Formulation in a Pluralistic Democracy" will be launched at the first session. Dr Mohiuddin Alamgir will conduct a discussion on the publication, a BSS report said

The following session will facilitate a discussion on "Strengthening Institutions to Accelerate Growth and Lower Poverty". The discussion will focus in the issues in transforming the relevant institutions necessary to accelerate growth, reduce poverty and achieve the middle-income country status within the stipulated time.

Established in 2013, BEF aims to bring together best possible analysis and knowledge on major development issues and challenges facing Bangladesh and help the policymakers' debate and decide on related public policies and institutions.
