Digital is not taking over the world of printed books anytime soon, as many predicted. According to a new research by the Pew Research Center, 65% of American book readers reported that they read real book compared to that of 28% for the ebooks. Moreover, majority of the readers said they consider ebook readers as a complementary tool instead of a replacement to physical books.
This is an important revelation as many predicted that with the rise of smartphones, ebook readers, and other gadgets, physical books would soon become obsolete. However, this data tells a different story. It means books can and will co-exist with the digital readers and remain relevant to our life in the years to come.
